So as I mentioned before, I've started following an online drawing course offered by the folks at WetCanvas, where I've been hanging around for a little while now. I haven't started the course itself yet, but the first thing you need to do before taking the course is to draw a "baseline" image. That is, something you see as above your current abilities, which you will later come back and revisit once you've gained more skill. Or in the words of the assignment itself:
" Find a picture of something that you want to draw but have felt intimidated about attempting. Draw the picture and do NOT worry about mistakes and then post it in the first class thread. This will be your reference picture to give us an idea of your level. DO NOT throw this picture away.. Your final project in this class will be to take the same picture and draw it again using ANY of the techniques that you have learned. "
Simple tools. HB pencil, sketchpad, eraser. That's it.
Very cool! I'm glad you chose one of my stocks to learn with! I hope you chose to come back to it later when you learn more so I can see how you've improved. I really have to start drawing again myself. I've gotten spoiled with all this digital work!
Heh, I'm a trad art junkie, so you probably won't see me doing a heck of a lot of digital work any time soon. But you can be sure I'll be coming back and doing another version, probably in a few months' time.

Xeno's Paradise is on hold, not sure if it's coming back. Stay tuned for other projects.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
